Lianne received her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from UCLA in 2019. Her research looks at how trauma changes how we empathize with others going through similar traumatic experiences, and how we can increase social support for people experiencing trauma or discrimination. Lianne also collaborates on research exploring mental health outcomes and social support for people living with HIV. Lianne is an assistant professor in residence at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she teaches courses such as social psychology, multicultural psychology, the psychology of gender, and a seminar on the science of empathy
